Grow Enterprise Wales (GrEW) is an award-winning social enterprise that aims to move people closer to the workplace by offering real work experience in real jobs. GrEW seeks to deliver services across South Wales aimed at improving employability, basic and life skills whilst offering an alternative to mainstream education, resulting in positive outcomes for all.

Improving employability through experience

Since GrEW’s inception in January 2010 it has assisted hundreds of young people back into work or education. GrEW trainees build their experiences by working on real contracts for real customers.

In 2011 GrEW provided over 400 opportunities for future jobs fund trainees, as well as 29  probationers.

Improving basic and life skills

An induction is provided for every new trainee covering areas such as; health and safety, money management, first aid and manual handling, this is the GrEW Guarantee. The GrEW training team is trained to assess basic skills in literacy and numeracy as well as a range of other key skills such as motivation, initiative and ambition.
A weekly job club supports the trainees with job searches, CV writing, interview techniques etc.

Creating positive outcomes

GrEW offers accredited training qualifications and all trainees can demonstrate personal achievement through their unique Profile of Achievement (POA). All GrEW trainees can track their progress through the ‘The Progress Tree’ model which was developed in-house by a previous Future Jobs Fund trainee.
