What CSR means to us

Corporate Social Responsibility is about being an inspiring, engaging and supportive employer. We are a value driven business that has a total commitment to responsible business practice.  CSR is integral to the way we run our business; it’s our aim to create a positive impact on society through collaborative and inspiring working practices.

This way of working is supported and promoted from the top down. We take a holistic approach to helping our neighbourhoods thrive. It’s about boosting the community and adding value to our employees, clients, supply chain partners, the environment and the wider community.

Volunteering

We are committed to improving our communities and as members of Business in the Community (BITC) for a number of years we have been involved in their national volunteer movement - Give & Gain Day. In 2014, we held Give & Gain Day at several locations throughout Rhondda Cynon Taf, working on a number of regeneration and community projects. In Penygraig, Give & Gain Day launched our longer term regeneration project within the town centre. The main aim of these projects was to make a real and tangible difference to the physical appearance of our neighbourhoods and to develop a relationship between our staff and the local residence.

Climate Change

Driving down climate change is also very important to us, as an active member of BITC we are working with them to mobilise business for good.  We are part of Prince’s Mayday Network, which works towards combating climate change through the reduction of our carbon footprint.

Community Capacity Building

We also have a strong commitment to youth development and supported employment programmes.  These are primarily run through our Social Enterprise; Grow Enterprise Wales (GrEW) which provides work-related training and employment opportunities.  One of the programmes that GrEW run is Action Camp which is a 3 day residential camp targeted at youth groups, family groups and NEETs.

Action Camp delivers essential skills in a fun and entertaining way, it offers an outdoor learning experience that’s inspirational and educational. It is particularly successful at engaging 'hard to reach' young people, with over 250 young people and families attending the 2013-14 camps.

“We would encourage all businesses to get involved in Corporate Social Responsibility so they can also see that triple bottom line benefit.”
